As I type this, droolingidiots.com has received 93 hits. That's not bad, but we've been on-line for over a month now and at that pace my plans for world domination will take much longer to bring to fruition than originally anticipated. Sigh. Patience is a virtue.
Few things have changed around here since last edition of The Prime Says. At Thanksgiving dinner, one of my cousins told me that he didn't want pictures of his kids on the Internet. Hmm. It's not that his concerns are completely without merit, but his misgivings were so meritoriously miniscule that they were risible. Nonetheless, the photo of my cousins in the gallery has been doctored. Foliage now covers the faces of two of the seven, much to the chagrin of pedophiles everywhere.
The "Word Of The Day" feature is going away for a while. It wasn't that popular, it was a maintenance headache and I never finished implementing it properly. It'll come back when I put in the work to make it less of a hassle.
I've been in the studio more in the last week than I have been for the previous two months. I'm still not close to having something ready for posting but I'm working again after a protracted period of indolence. I'm still hoping to have "I'm The Prime" and "Puttin' It Down For South Camp" ready to go by the end of the year. It'll be good to have them cleared out because I keep taking on new projects and those old songs are clogging the pipeline.
As the song says, "all things must pass" and George Harrison was no exception. Unfortunately, this is for real and "Paul is dead" remains a hoax.
George was always one of my favorite Beatles - easily in the top two. The Fabs, as he liked to call them, were long gone by the time I started listening to music but their influence was pervasive. I became a huge fan and appreciated George's work tremendously. Over the years he developed into a great guitarist and a great songwriter. He was almost single-handedly responsible for bringing Eastern influences to 60's rock music.
If you want a good retrospective of what George was about, track down the 2 CD set "Live In Japan." George and his band (including Eric Clapton on guitar) ran through many of his best songs from The Beatles (including "Something", "Taxman" and "Here Comes The Sun") and from his solo work (including "My Sweet Lord", "All Those Years Ago" and "Got My Mind Set On You"). If you want to explore further, you can't go wrong with a Beatles album although I think the ones released from 1965 through 1969 are superior to the others. "All Things Must Pass" and "Cloud Nine" are usually considered to be his best solo works.
George Harrison. Born February 25, 1943. Died November 30, 2001. I'm a Scorpio so I can deal with his passing but I think I hear my guitar gently weeping.
1108 Thugz are Ann Arbor's premiere rap crew. At least that's what they claim and since rappers never use hyperbole or tell outright lies about their proficiency or status I have to take them at their word. Busta Pelvis (the "ruthless, notorious, pussy villain") and Puss E. Beatz (the "muthafuckin' dick-slangin' deputy") have been rocking the mic for two years now and cleaning up on mp3.com. It's good stuff although the language gets a little rough. You might want to be careful about playing 1108 within earshot of your par... uh, children.
1108 Thugz are being plugged in this edition of The Prime Says because Busta Pelvis contributed the exordium's exegesis. Call me a sentimental old fool if you must, but I find it truly heart-warming to see my work appreciated for its random and inane ideas. Busta also chided me for promoting condom usage but that didn't make for a snappy citation.
I'd like to take this opportunity to announce my next project: a battle rap wherein I take out the 1108 Thugz.
Surely I'm joking - unlike Mr. Feynman. While Busta did say the things reported above, he also said that I could quote him as saying that the music of D.I. Prime and Drooling Idiots was "Incendiary."
All is forgiven.
I've been hounding the Thugz to do a collaboration for the last month. Thus far my efforts have been for naught as the "triple-platinum thugz with they dicks on fire" claim to have hung up their mics. Apparently mp3.com cut their royalty rates and they've quit because they aren't getting paid. C'mon guys, I understand that thugz gotta be all about the benjamins but you're not just thugz - you're rappers too. Where's the love for the game? If nothing else, where's your egomaniacal ecstasy in evangelizing the events of your latest conquests?
I'm going to keep trying to coax them back into the studio. Mere hours ago I rapped a verse to Busta Pelvis and he seemed enthused about working it into a song. We'll see what happens.
That's all for today. Until I speak again...
Grr arg,
D.I. Prime
